North York Muslim Association
Earn the reward of building a house of Allah — and a halal return on your capital.
If you have capital sitting idle — or earning in ways that don't quite sit right — here is a chance to put it to work the halal way: help fund a permanent masjid in the heart of uptown Toronto, co-own the property, and have your capital returned through a Sharī'ah-compliant partnership, in shā' Allāh.

NYMA has served the Muslim community at Yonge and Sheppard — one of the busiest intersections in uptown Toronto — for over two decades, Alhamdulillah. But the reality is this: our daily prayer space fits barely 20 to 30 people. Every Friday, we rent a hall for Jumu'ah. Every Eid, another rental. Every Ramadan, we squeeze into borrowed spaces.
After more than twenty years of renting, that chapter is now drawing to a close. The building's management has served notice for NYMA to vacate its current space by September 30, 2026. The community isn't looking for another temporary home — Alhamdulillah, it is ready, at last, for one of its own.
In 2025 Alone
A community this alive — held inside a single rented room.
Qur'an classes, a weekend Islamic school, youth programs, da'wah, community events — all from a room that fits thirty.
The Opportunity
NYMA is acquiring two adjacent properties at 120–128 Sheppard Avenue West — minutes from where we already serve, in the heart of uptown Toronto. A permanent masjid and community centre under one roof: daily prayers, Jumu'ah, Qur'an school, youth programs, Ramadan, in shā' Allāh.
To complete the purchase, we need
$3.445 million
We're not asking you to give it away — we're inviting you to co-own this property through a halal partnership. You participate; NYMA pays you back, with a halal return, in shā' Allāh.
The Partnership
This is a Diminishing Mushārakah: a co-ownership structure where you and NYMA jointly own the property. NYMA pays rent on the share you hold — that is your halal return — and buys your share back over time, until your capital is fully returned to you. No interest. No ribā. Real ownership in a real asset.
It is the same proven structure used in Canadian Muslim communities for over forty years — and the same model Toronto Islamic Centre used to secure their permanent home at 817 Yonge Street, guided by the very advisors now working with NYMA: Pallett Valo LLP on the legal side and Fareed Sheik LLP on tax.
The full structure, terms, and eligibility are shared privately, one-on-one, with those who register their interest.

"Who will lend to Allah a good loan which Allah will multiply many times over? It is Allah ˹alone˺ who decreases and increases ˹wealth˺. And to Him you will ˹all˺ be returned."
Qur'an 2 : 245
Whatever you place in this house of Allah is never truly spent. Even as your capital returns to you, the reward of what it builds keeps multiplying — every prayer offered within these walls, every child taught to read the Qur'an, every soul guided to Islam — written for you for as long as it stands, bi'idhnillāh.
"Whoever builds a masjid for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise."
— Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim
