Earn the reward of building a house of Allah — and a halal return on your capital.

If you have capital sitting idle — or earning in ways that don't quite sit right — here is a chance to put it to work the halal way: help fund a permanent masjid in the heart of uptown Toronto, co-own the property, and have your capital returned through a Sharī'ah-compliant partnership, in shā' Allāh.

The Community

After 20 years in a temporary space, this community needs a permanent home.

NYMA has served the Muslim community at Yonge and Sheppard — one of the busiest intersections in uptown Toronto — for over two decades, Alhamdulillah. But the reality is this: our daily prayer space fits barely 20 to 30 people. Every Friday, we rent a hall for Jumu'ah. Every Eid, another rental. Every Ramadan, we squeeze into borrowed spaces.

The Opportunity

We found the property. Alhamdulillah, the deposit is locked in.

NYMA is acquiring two adjacent properties at 120–128 Sheppard Avenue West — minutes from where we already serve, in the heart of uptown Toronto. A permanent masjid and community centre under one roof: daily prayers, Jumu'ah, Qur'an school, youth programs, Ramadan, in shā' Allāh.

To complete the purchase, we need

$3.445 million

We're not asking you to give it away — we're inviting you to co-own this property through a halal partnership. You participate; NYMA pays you back, with a halal return, in shā' Allāh.

Closing deadline: September 30, 2026. The purchase must be completed by this date, or we risk losing the property.

The Partnership

A halal partnership — not a donation.

This is a Diminishing Mushārakah: a co-ownership structure where you and NYMA jointly own the property. NYMA pays rent on the share you hold — that is your halal return — and buys your share back over time, until your capital is fully returned to you. No interest. No ribā. Real ownership in a real asset.

It is the same proven structure used in Canadian Muslim communities for over forty years — and the same model Toronto Islamic Centre used to secure their permanent home, guided by the very advisors now working with NYMA: Pallett Valo LLP on the legal side and Fareed Sheik LLP on tax.

The full structure, terms, and eligibility are shared privately, one-on-one, with those who register their interest.

وَأَنَّ ٱلْمَسَاجِدَ لِلَّهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا۟ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ أَحَدًا

"The places of worship are for Allah alone — so do not invoke anyone besides Him."

Qur'an 72 : 18

"Whoever builds a masjid for Allah, Allah will build for him a house like it in Paradise."

— Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim
